We Were Born to Ignite the Light Within
In 2017, Ricsyhelle Davis and Rhonda G. Brent founded I AM 1112 with a simple but powerful belief: When people have access to information, they gain the power to change their lives. For years, we showed up throughout Los Angeles County -- feeding families, supporting the unhoused, placing backpacks into the hands of children, hosting financial literacy events, gathering women for healing; and we ended up building something rare: a community rooted in service, advocacy, and love. We showed up because these were our people, and their needs were our calling.
Then we uncovered something that broke our hearts and moved our feet at the same time. The disproportionate impact of racism within maternal healthcare was not a distant issue, it was happening in our own neighborhoods, on our own streets, to women we knew and loved. Support existed. Benefits were funded. Resources were available. Yet the families who needed them most were often never told those services even existed. That was the moment everything shifted. Awareness had always been one of our greatest gifts to this community, and now it was needed most in the birthing room, in the postpartum transition, and in the lives of mothers who deserved far more than silence and survival. Today, I AM Birthing Support Circle is a full-spectrum maternal wellness organization offering advocacy, education, integrated care, and a full circle of support from your very first call through long after your baby arrives. We proudly welcome families on Medi-Cal, private insurance, and private pay.... because, every mother deserves to be seen, supported, and held.

Our mission is to create safe spaces where individuals rediscover their true essence. Through healing, community, and career support, we inspire our community to listen to the 'I AM' inner voice, empowering every person to build a life that feels whole and authentic.

A world where every person — regardless of race, zip code, or circumstance — has access to the information they need to transform their lives. At I AM 1112, awareness is not a department. It is who we are. It lives in every project we touch, every community we enter, every room we stand in. From financial literacy to food equity, from community healing to maternal wellness — we show up with information as our greatest offering, because we have always believed that an informed community is an empowered one. Our vision for maternal health is simply an extension of that same calling — closing the gap between the services that exist and the mothers who deserve them, one family at a time, one conversation at a time, one circle at a time. We are not just changing outcomes in the birthing room. We are building a community that knows its worth, understands its rights, and refuses to be left without the care it was always entitled to.
